After making a splash as Phoibos's first titanium watch in 2021, the Apollo model continues to evolve. This time, we brought the new Apollo and added more unique elements to the design.
The most striking feature is the left hand crown at 8 o’clock in this new variant (REF:PY036), and it makes the lineup of the diving watch family under the Phoibos brand more complete, showing the brand's comprehensive and professional watchmaking strength and affinity. This would be a natural fit for left-handed people or those who prefer to wear a watch on their right wrist. Undoubtedly, this new release would be another first - the first “Destro Watch” (“destro” means right in Italian) designed by Phoibos.
Of course, Phoibos doesn't just move the crown to the left. Many details of the watch also use the classic elements and designs of the Apollo series to release a watch full of sincerity.
The whole case is made of 316L stainless steel, in guarantee of 200M water resistance, but reduces the watch height to 12.5 mm, which improves the comfort in wearing. Also the new Apollo watch equipped with a stable and reliable SII NH38A movement, the flat sapphire crystal glass with three layers anti-reflect coating, the ceramic bezel insert, as well as the 15 layers Super-LumiNova BGW9 on hands, indices, bezel markings. Due to the changing of 316L stainless steel, the 120 click unidirectional rotated bezel has a better function, firm but not tight.
The use of the NH38 movement removes the date frame and forms a complete universe on the dial. We continued the design of the sandwich dial. The 3 o'clock, 9 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions of the slanted inner ring have letters representing the four directions of east, west, south and north, as if they are guiding us in the direction of navigation in the vast universe. The upper dial cleverly uses a circular hollow design along with the lower dial to create a sense of spatial hierarchy, plus the playful hollow watch hands, forming an unusual dial/hands combination. This spatial hierarchy also reflects in the design of the hands, the application of hollow round hour hand and the sword minute hands, skims off the heaviness of the solid hands. Also through the hollow hands, you can observe the below dial, which builds another spatial level in the original spatial hierarchy and brings the eyes out of the sank lower dial. Thus the design of dial and hands fulfill aesthetics of spatial vision, deserve to be a paragon of sandwich dial design.
The new Apollo has five dial colors, each with a contrast of light and dark colors, and the color scheme is full of futuristic sense, making it unforgettable at first glance. Let you glimpse the vastness of the universe from square inches. Putting on the new Apollo, it seems that you have also boarded the spaceship together and embarked on a journey of exploring the universe.
